Do you organise travel to Scotland?

No. We will look after you once you are here but, we leave it up to you to get here. This allows us to concentrate all of our efforts on exceeding your expectations once you arrive.

How much time will we be in the vehicle?

On all of our tours, we aim to spend as much time out of the vehicle as possible. All of our trips are designed to include short walks, bathroom stops, refreshment breaks, visits to sights and attractions and photo opportunities. We want you to explore Scotland; not just drive through it!

What should I bring on my tour?

No matter what the time of year, the weather in Scotland can be “changeable”, to say the least. We suggest that you bring suitable clothes for all conditions, including a waterproof jacket (it has been known to rain in Scotland) and plenty of layers. Shoes suitable for short walks, on rough or uneven terrain, are also suggested.

How much luggage can I take on my tour?

Due to the size of the vehicles on our scheduled tours, we ask that you limit your luggage to 1 x small/medium piece per person, along with 1 x small handbag or day pack. Many Edinburgh hotels will allow you so store any luggage you do not wish to take with you on your tour.

Do you allow children on your tours?

It depends on the tour. We welcome children on our private and tailor-made tours but, unfortunately, due to comfort and safety reasons, we do not accept children (under the age of 5) on any of our scheduled departures. If you are booking a private or tailor-made tour, please inform us of if there are young children travelling in your party. This will allow us to make the correct child seats available to you. For all our whisky tours, all guests must be a minimum of 18 years old.

What insurance should I have?

We have all the legal and relevant insurances as a tour operator. However, it is your responsibility to make sure you have adequate travel insurance. There is a fantastic medical service in Scotland, and this is free to UK residents. However, if you are from outside of the UK, you may need to pay for any medical treatment you receive here. Please ensure that your travel insurance covers you for all eventualities, including medical treatment, medicines, cancellations and repatriation.

What in included in the cost of the tour?

This depends on which tour you have booked. Unless otherwise stated, the majority of our scheduled tour include the following: All transport (including Ferries, cars & minibus), all fuel, services of a professional driver/guide or driver and guide, all local taxes and free accommodation booking service).

Are meals, attractions and accommodation included with my tour?

This depends on the type of tour you are booking. Our regular Islay and Speyside tours are inclusive (apart from lunches and dinners) but others are not, unless otherwise discussed with you at time of booking.

We recognise that all our guests are different. This is why, unless otherwise stated, we do not include entrance fees, meals, refreshments or accommodation. These are all paid for locally, during your tour. We do offer a free accommodation booking service and our staff will recommend the best places to visit, eat and drink at every stop. There will be ample choices at each stop and overnight stop. This allows you the flexibility to plan your trip according to your own personal tastes and budgets.

What is the weather like in Scotland?

The weather can be unpredictable in Scotland. We suggest that you prepare for all eventualities, even in the Summer months. A good resource to check on Scotland’s weather can be found at www.bbc.co.uk/weather.

What time do your tours start?

Different tours start at different times. Please check individual tour details, and booking confirmation, for your particular start time. Also, please note that all guests are asked to be at the pick up point AT LEAST 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO DEPARTURE TIME.

If I am late, will the tour wait for me?

If possible, we will wait as long as we can. However, due to the fact that we have booked time slots at attractions and travel services, we cannot wait for late arrivals. If you are running late, please call us immediately to let us know, and we will see what we can do. However, if you are not at the departure point by the advertised time of departure, we reserve the right to leave, and no refund will be given. Please see terms and conditions for further details.
